Archive -- Carolinas Association for Passenger Trains Board Meeting

The Carolinas Association for Passenger Trains will meet in Winston-Salem on Saturday January 18, 2020. The meeting location is 701 North Liberty Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101 at Camel City BBQ Factory, Room 52. The restaurant phone number is (336) 306-9999. The menu can be found at camelcitybbq.com. Lunch will be in the meeting room beginning at 11:30 am, with meeting to follow around 12:30 pm.

The meeting will conclude by 3:00 pm to allow those returning home via Amtrak to catch the NC Amtrak Connector Route # 5 for the Piedmont/Carolinian service. The bus will leave the Winston-Salem ( Clark Campbell ) Transportation Center at 3:20 pm (Bay A3) and arrive in High Point at 4:00 pm in ample time for train connections to trains #76 and #77. Those travelling by train to the meeting should arrive in High Point via Amtrak trains #73 or #80 to meet the connecting bus which leaves the High Point train station at 9:00 am.

Those travelling by auto please meet the NC Amtrak Connector Route # 5 bus at the Winston-Salem ( Clark Campbell ) Transportation Center, 100 West 5th Street at 9:40 am ( Bay A3) . It's the final stop on the bus route. Depending on autos available the group will go take a look at the newly restored Winston-Salem Union Station, and associated rail trackage in the city which might be used for future inter-city or commuter rail passenger service. All should be at the restaurant promptly at or before 11:30 am so we can remain on schedule.
